Study Hub West Coast is dedicated to supporting regional and remote learners at a post-secondary level on the West Coast of Tasmania.

“Ultimately this hub will help improve educational attainment, skills development, and employment opportunities for our regional and remote students.”

Background

The Australian Government is investing $24.2 million over four years to assist in the establishment and operation of 16 community-owned, regional study hubs at 23 sites across regional Australia.

Regional Study Hubs (RSHs) provide infrastructure such as study spaces, video conferencing, computing facilities and internet access, as well as academic support for students studying via distance in Australian universities and registered training organisations.

Study Hub West Coast is the only regional study hub in Tasmania. West Coast Heritage Ltd, supported by education providers and industry on the West Coast submitted a successful proposal to create a Study Hub centrally located in Zeehan.

Regional Study Hubs are a vital resource in supporting regional students: delivering access to campus-like facilities in regional and remote areas, educational support, technology and, most importantly, a network of fellow students.

It’s a well known fact that students who leave regional areas to study in an urban institution are unlikely to return.

At Study Hub West Coast, we are dedicated to supporting regional and remote learners at a post-secondary level on the West Coast of Tasmania.

Our community places great importance on learning and we are excited to partner with education providers and regional industry to offer a variety of course options that will enable learners to continue their education journey and study locally without having to leave.
